Phobias

Most phobias are an evolutionary response. They are perfectly normal and healthy responses to dangerous, threatening or uncomfortable situations. A fear of heights, spiders, snakes, loud noises etc – all are genetically programmed to protect us from danger. However if , for example you want to go on holiday but are too frightened to fly, it can become disabling to you, and if I can help you to tackle that or any other phobias or unhelpful fears then do call.

Sometimes a phobia will develop as a result of a past traumatic experience. Both the body and the unconscious mind store these experiences physically and fire off a panic response to protect you against a recurrence of that trauma. They are working for your benefit unconsciously, but given the experience was in the past, it might be helpful for you to be empowered to move on. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a widely recognised phenomenon.

Again, we can discuss this and see how we can resolve the issue.

We don’t have to love what we were frightened of; However we do have the opportunity to learn to live with it, put it in its appropriate place and embrace life and all it has to offer.
